Burton On Trent Golf Club

2017 CLUB CAPTAIN PHIL RILEY

A message from the Captain …..

I am honoured to have been elected to be Captain of Burton on Trent Golf Club for 2017 and will do my very best to represent the club in all aspects.

I became a member some 16 years ago and joined the Directors some 5 years ago.  In that time I have seen many changes, mainly for the good, I am pleased to say, putting us into the healthy position we are in today.

I feel that our club is a friendly club, I had a warm welcome when I joined, and I think we must ensure that this continues to happen.  Attracting and retaining members is key to all golf clubs these days, there is great competition and we must work hard to make sure we do both of these things effectively.

Myself and the Ladies Captain, Janet Toombs have selected Diabetes UK as our charity for the year.  Diabetes UK do great work, not only in research but also in supporting diabetes sufferers and their families, even running summer camps for younger sufferers.  We both feel it is a worthy cause and hope you will be able to support us in raising lots of money over the coming year.

I have selected the 12th as my charity hole for the year, so if you just happen to find yourself in any of the bunkers on this hole, I hope you will make a contribution to the charity.

I hope you will be able to join us for the many and varied events we are running over the course the year so keep an eye on the diary.

I wish you all a great golfing year and look forward to playing with as many of you as I can both in teams and competitions.

Phil
